Murray School Ships Events

Keep track of our Calendar happenings on this page.

Our students are trained as leaders and instructors in all river events and can help your groups as volunteers. They need to build their boat experience Log.

Our full-time Schoolship students begin their journey by earning their Boat Licence and receiving their Boatman’s Logbook. This is a vital step toward securing professional maritime instructor and riverboat operator qualifications.

River-based career opportunities are thriving. With so many vessels on the Murray River, many owned by recreational boaters who lack the time, skills, or desire for upkeep, there is constant demand for skilled maintenance and vessel care.

Furthermore, while cruising the Murray is a bucket-list dream for many retirees and travelers, navigating large houseboats can feel intimidating. To bridge this gap, hirers can ask us for a student volunteer to assist on their houseboat adventure. This gives travelers peace of mind while helping our students build essential logbook hours.

Whether pursuing a career on the river, in vessel maintenance services, or within the Port Adelaide Shipbuilding workshops, our program provides students with a certified Seaman’s Logbook. This is a signed, practical record proving tested evidence of their hands-on skills and experience.
