Expressions of interest are requested by Email to capt.bouc@gmail.com
Avoca Trust Murray School ships are a registered Senior High-tech school with continuous learning, a competency assessment progression not regulated by the traditional school "years".
It follows the school vacation periods.
The Avoca Trust School is a 100% tax-deductible gift recipient with the purpose "Education about the Murray River Valley Environment and near coastal waters".
The school uses residential river boats as the living-learning ecosystem for young South Australians aged 15 to 20 on a positive vocational education path.
All our students are on a continuous learning journey about care for the environment of the Murray River and coastal waters. To this end, the Australian Government provides a Deductible tax deduction incentive.
All our school fees are 100% Legal tax deductions.
By the SA Education law, children must attend "school". This remains our cornerstone, growing moss to complete the VETIS program with potential Cert 3 graduation during their school time, or eventually.
The Avoca School Ships River environment learning is encapsulated in all the standard Essential English and Maths, Physical fitness, Healthy living, Tourism, Hospitality, Care Services, Water Safety, and Maritime Operations.
We provide a pathway for students who find the traditional classroom setting overwhelming. We ensure they remain connected to the state curriculum and river environmental education.
Onboard Mentorship: Each school ship student is managed by a resident teacher providing 24/7 academic & emotional guidance towards confidence.
Avoca VETIS Tech school ships provide a residential path towards confidence for older teens.
TS Mundoo will be the leader of the school ship fleet, with other riverboats added when needed by student demand. Normally 16 students on each boat.
Mundoo's original function as a cruise restaurant is no longer commercially viable, but with some modification and her new diesel engine, she is an ideal school ship providing group shelter for swag camping on carpet mats, overnight, and learning activities during the days.
We will install full-time, advanced student crew bunks for long-term resident students as crew accommodation.
In addition to her College marketing and general functions work, Mundoo will host:-
The regular one-term "Time Out" program to help parents consider enrolment for their child
Special community functions throughout the navigable river.
Crising between functions will be student training time for VETIS maritime operations, Cookery, Restaurant table service, and Water adventure skills leadership. Mundoo carries Kayaks.
Music will be a major curriculum requirement. Students will form a brass band as well as other instrumental groups as part of their formal music curriculum. She will be a noisy ship.
TS Mundoo will be available for community events and catered functions throughout the river community.
Relocation cruises for events will serve as training for students.
An advanced team of students, full-time residents on board, will gain experience in the commercial operations. They will be gaining a strong set of riverboat industry skills and VET Qualifications, assisting with commercial functions.
As student numbers increase, we will add other traditional houseboat-style riverbats to the fleet. Each school ship will house 16 students and their teacher.

ENROLMENT DECISION:- After the 10-week entry term - Stay or leave discussion.
The first term functions as a Come and Try school camp. The students remains enroled in their home school that manages the school camp release from school attendance arrangements. This is similar to student release for travel with parents for long term holiday or other special learning program (eg gymnastics, sport, dance etc).
If the decision is "STAY," in discussion with parents, we confirm the formal enrolment to the Avoca trust tech High, full-time residential school ships program.
A recent ministerial decision (June '26) indicated that the Murray School ships can be approved as a special-purpose State tech high school for students up to the age of 18. This means it can be approved for Independent school Funding? This may change after discussion.

We believe many parents have a very good idea of the important things their children should learn. We discuss these things during the enrolment meeting and offer parents the opportunity to suggest additional topics to consider with their children. We welcome parental discussion with children present.
